It is not unusual for someone to feel stuck, lost, or lonely as a carer.

Counselling is a chance to explore some of the thoughts and feelings which may not be able to be explored elsewhere.

There maybe times where the responsibility of caring feels too much or maybe it is hard to accept. Counselling is able to provide an opportunity to talk through these feelings; it may free up some feeling of responsibility, overwhelm or to help to remove any barriers that could prevent acceptance.

The idea of doing something for yourself may leave you feeling guilty. This may be because it can feel alien to focus on yourself as often you are putting others needs before your own.

Caring for someone can take a lot of physical and emotional energy. It is important to look after yourself so that you can look after others.
